The need to protect the natural world has never been higher than it is now since all forms of life depend on it for survival. There’s a lot more to life than simply the basics. The rate at which natural resources are being used up is greater than the rate at which they can be renewed naturally. Other problems, such as resource scarcity, poor sanitation and hygiene, and natural catastrophes like floods and droughts, have resulted directly from our worsening environmental conditions. In addition, human activity is wreaking severe and sometimes irreversible damage to the natural world. Tree planting, beach cleanups, and community cleanups are examples of BASTA’s volunteer-driven initiatives. BASTA’s mission is to ensure that the phrase “Nature has enough for the need and nothing for the greedy” is understood by the general public. As part of our efforts to inform the public, we have been promoting Swachta Abhiyan, one of several government-sponsored initiatives.
