Child Education

The findings show that despite India’s status as the biggest and most populous emerging democracy, not every child there receives an adequate education. Thirty-five million children under the age of fourteen are not enrolled in school. The percentage of Indian families with access to elementary education is 53%, while the percentage of Indians with access to secondary education is 20%. The cycle of structural poverty that hinders a child’s ability to live safely, healthily, and sustainably may be broken by investing in the child’s education. One of BASTA’s main initiatives is basic literacy training, through which we provide targeted academic help to low-income children in an effort to motivate and re-engage them in their education. In addition, we take a holistic approach, working to improve the climate of the school as a whole as well as its infrastructure, students’ emotional health, and extra-curricular offerings.
