as I celebrate another year of my life, I am reminded that the greatest gift is not the one we receive, but the one we give.

For the past three years, I have chosen to celebrate my birthday by giving the gift of education to girls who deserve an opportunity to dream.

These are girls rescued from labour sites, where childhood was replaced by work. In a world where survival came before schooling, many of them never knew that education was their right or that it could transform their future. They had no classrooms, no books, and no one to tell them that they were capable of becoming anything they wished.

Today, seeing them smile, learn, read, and dream is the most meaningful birthday gift I could ever receive.

On my birthday this year, Basta Foundation has made another commitment—to bring education to even more girls who are still waiting for their first chance to learn.

I spent many birthdays celebrating myself. But these last three years have taught me that the most beautiful celebration is one that changes someone else’s life.

Because every girl deserves a classroom, not a workplace. Every girl deserves a pencil, not a burden. And every girl deserves the chance to write her own future.
